The definition of arthritis is “a disease causing painful inflammation and stiffness of the joints”.

SO, it is actually a general term and includes any condition affecting the joints with symptoms of pain, swelling and stiffness.

Degenerative arthritis (osteoarthritis) is the most commonly understood type of arthritis. It is caused by wear and tear of the cartilage (which cushions the joints). Once cartilage is reduced it does not always heal itself. As your body attempts to heal, fluid accumulates with inflammatory markers inside and as a result pain develops.

Strain, Sprain or Tear?

Patients often come into the clinic using these words interchangeably to describe anything from a twisted ankle to a pulled hamstring. They are not the same.

A sprain refers to an injured ligament. Ligaments are fibrous bands of tissue that connect your bones to each other. They provide a passive limit to the amount of movement between bones.

A strain refers to injury to a muscle or tendon. The tendons in your body are what attach your muscles to your bones.

It’s only fractured.

The dictionary definition of fracture is the breaking or cracking of an object.
It is a common misunderstanding that a fracture is less serious, or less painful than a broken bone. NOT true! They are one and the same. Instead, fractures are graded to classify the severity.
