Physiotherapy is primarily focussed with the remedy of impairments and disabilities as well as promoting mobility, functional ability, quality of life and movement potential through examination, diagnosis and physical intervention. Some define it as the treatment of disease by methods including massage, heat, dry needling, and exercise rather than by drugs in order to promote mobility and functional movement thereby improving quality of life. Physiotherapists are healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat individuals of all ages, from newborns to the very oldest, who have medical problems or other health-related conditions, illnesses, or injuries that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities as well as they would like in their daily lives. Following hands-on treatment we will prescribe appropriate exercises to perform at home and discuss your long-term treatment plan with you. You may be asked to return for follow-up treatment however each condition and individuals needs are different. Initially this process will take up to an hour. Follow-up treatments are scheduled at 30 or 45 minutes depending on the individual.
As part of our assessment and treatment we may need to see the body part in question. For this reason shorts are best for a lower limb or groin injury and singlet for upper limb. We have shorts available for use and are mindful to use appropriate towel draping to maintain modesty.
